August
24 – A 20-year-old Spanaway man and his
20-year-old girlfriend were arrested for possession
of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The suspects
were observed parked in Smallwood Park which is
closed after dark. As the officer approached the
driver’s side window he could smell the odor of
burning marijuana and saw in plan view a pot pipe
sitting on the opened glove box door. Both suspects
were arrested. The female was asked if she had any
more marijuana or had she smoked it all? She replied
there was more under her seat. A search incident to
arrest revealed a film canister with marijuana
inside. Both suspects were cited and later released
to the woman’s mother.
August
25 – A 55-year-old Eatonville man reported
someone had stolen a 9mm pistol from his residence.
A possible suspect has been identified.
August
25 – A 27-year-old Eatonville woman reported
someone stole her son’s bike from her carport.
August
27 – A 21-year-old U.S. Army deserter from Ft.
Lewis was arrested for identity theft, forgery,
possession of stolen property, possession of drug
paraphernalia and unlawful issuance of bank checks.
The suspect ordered six pizzas from a local business
and paid for them with a stolen check. The business
contacted the police and responding officers
verified the check was stolen. The officer then
proceeded to the residence, a duplex in the 100
block of Alder Street. The occupants of the
residence lied to responding officers saying the
suspect was not there. The suspect was later found
hiding in the bathroom. The suspect admitted he had
written the stolen check and said he had five or six
more of the stolen checks inside his backpack. The
backpack was searched and the checks recovered.
During the search drug paraphernalia was also
discovered. The suspect was later transported and
booked into PC (Pierce County) Jail. The U.S. Army
was notified of his arrest.
August
28 – A 48-year-old Eatonville man was arrested
for DUI and DWLS. The suspect was stopped for
defective equipment. When contacted the arresting
officers could smell the strong odor of intoxicants
coming from the vehicle. The suspect was advised of
the reason for the stop and he immediately got out
of his vehicle. The suspect was so unsteady on his
feet he had to use his vehicle for support. A
records check showed that his license was suspended
for child support enforcement. When asked how much
he had to drink he told the officer, "Probably too
much." The suspect refused to take a field sobriety
test. He was arrested and transported to the police
department for a BAC. The results were .166 and
.145. He was cited and later transported to his
residence and released.
August
30 – A 36-year-old Standwood man was charged
with assaulting a 30-year-old Graham man. The Graham
man was hired as a DJ for a local bar. When the
Graham man said he was playing the last song for the
night the suspect flipped him off. When asked why,
the suspect apparently headbutted the victim and
then knocked him off a barstool. The suspect
continued to hit and kick the victim until pulled
away by the bartender and other customers. The
suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of the
police.

31 – A 39-year-old Eatonville man was arrested
for forgery and theft. A 59-year-old Eatonville man
reported that the suspect, who lives with him, had
stolen three checks from him. He said the suspect
cashed two of the checks at his bank and had forged
his signature. The suspect was later arrested at the
residence and he admitted to stealing the checks and
forging the signature.
