Eatonville Police Report (Sept. 14 to 30, 2002)

September 14 – A 32-year-old Spanaway man was found to be at fault in a two-car accident on Alder Cut Off Road. The first truck being operated by a 48-year-old Puyallup man stopped to allow about 5 or 6 peacocks to cross the roadway. The second truck couldn’t stop in time and hit the back of the first vehicle.

September 15 – A 24-year-old Eatonville woman reported that someone had stolen her purse from her unsecured car.

September 15 – A 31-year-old Eatonville man was arrested for DWLS. The suspect was stopped for speeding. A records check using an in-car computer disclosed the suspect’s driver’s license was suspended. He was cited and released. His vehicle was impounded.

September 17 – A 15-year-old Packwood girl was arrested for driving without a license. The suspect was stopped for speeding 45mph in a posted 25mph-speed zone. The suspect was cited and released. The vehicle was released to a passenger who had a valid license. The suspect’s mother was contacted and advised of the arrest. Case to Remann Hall.

September 17 – An 89-year-old Eatonville woman died of natural causes.

September 18 – An abandoned vehicle was impounded.

September 18 – A 45-year-old Eatonville man was arrested for two counts of indecent exposure after he exposed himself to two juveniles. The suspect when contacted was intoxicated and had passed out on the floor of his residence. The suspect was transported and booked into Pierce County Jail.

September 19 – A 38-year-old Eatonville woman was cited for harboring a vicious dog after the dog reportedly attacked a child walking to school and a woman who lived next door. The dog bit no one.

September 21 – Two teenage boys and three teenage girls were cited for MIP. The suspect had been drinking at a youth even. They were given a breath test and they all failed. They were later released to their parents. Case to Remann Hall.

September 21 – A 40-year-old Eatonville woman reported that someone had been using her bank account number and had taken a large amount of money from her account.

September 22 – A 42-year-old and a 33-year-old Eatonville man were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and for possession of a dangerous weapon. The suspects were stopped for defective equipment. While talking to the suspects an officer observed two pot pipes on the floor behind the front seat. Both suspects were arrested and the pipes seized as evidence. A further search disclosed a bag containing a glass smoking pipe and a glass spoon along with several syringes. The suspects were cited and released.

September 23 – Two Ashford boys were picked up for truancy. Both suspects were taken to the high school and released to the security officer.

September 23 – Two Eatonville boys were charged with assaulting another boy at a high school football game. Case to Remann Hall.

September 24 – A juvenile girl was picked up for being a runaway. She was later released to her parents.

September 27 – A 19-year-old Eatonville man was arrested for DUI, DWLS 2nd degree, failure to have an ignition interlock device and possession of marijuana. An officer who had arrested him on a previous DUI observed the suspect earlier in the evening. The officer checked the suspect’s drivers status using an in-car computer. The records check disclosed that his driver’s license was suspended 2nd degree. Later that night the suspect was observed in the alley between Washington and Mashell Ave. He was stopped and arrested for DWLS. The suspect appeared to be intoxicated and was asked if he would take a field test. He agreed and failed all tests given. At that point the suspect was arrested for DUI. A records check through L.E.S.A. showed that he had a $2,500.00 warrant for his arrest for DUI. He was arrested on the warrant. A search of the vehicle disclosed two cases of beer and a homemade funnel “beer bong.” The suspect was searched and inside his pants pocket was a baggie of marijuana and some rolling papers. The suspect was taken to the police department for a BAC test. The results were .141. He was transported and booked into PC jail on the warrant. His vehicle was impounded.

September 29 – Someone broke the window at Our Lady of God Catholic Church.

September 29 – An Eatonville girl was charged with theft of a bike. The bike was recovered and given back to the victim. Case to Remann Hall.

September 30 – A stolen vehicle was recovered at a duplex on Alder St. A 33-year-old man who was seen by the vehicle was contacted. He said that a man named Gary had let him use the vehicle. He was unable to provide Gary’s last name. The vehicle was impounded.

September 30 – A 49-year-old Eatonville man reported that someone had stolen some stereo equipment and a cell phone from is unsecured car.

September 30 – A 37-year-old Seattle man was arrested for DUI. The suspect while northbound on SR 7 struck an 18-wheeler and hit a jeep causing it to roll rover. The suspect then left the accident scene. While waiting for the Washington State Police to arrive an Eatonville Officer observed the suspect pass by the accident scene. He was stopped and detained until the arrival of a Trooper. The suspect was later charged with hit and run and DUI by WSP.

September 30 – A 16-year-old boy was picked up as a runaway. He was taken to Remann Hall.

 On Saturday, September 28, 350 free gun locks were given to local citizens in an effort to prevent accidental shootings.
