Homecoming 2002

Last Friday night Eatonville High School celebrated Homecoming with all the tradition and ceremony people in this town have come to know and love. At the North end of B.W. Lyon Field you could see the glowing embers of the bonfire, built to burn the "dummy" – the object of a frantic, town-wide search conducted by all four high school classes. The senior class once again found and returned the dummy clad in the colors of the opposing team.

The original, 1941 Cruiser Football team was brought back to the field  where they played in their youth. The "first" Cruisers to wear the pads gathered to be honored by the school and town they once represented. The Homecoming Princesses met their Princes after a ride around the track in decorated golf carts.

One could feel the anticipation in the crowd as last year’s Queen, Lauren Surface, prepared to crown this year’s King, Jay Iverson. King Jay then crowned Queen Kimber Kirschner, much to the cheering crowd’s delight.
The photos below are a pictorial tribute to the 2002 EHS Homecoming King and Queen, and the volunteers who made this year’s event a night to remember.

"Pity the poor kids who grow up in a big city. They miss the little things that made growing up in a small town, ah, so wonderful."
