by Penny Chambers
Forgery
Of Checks/Possession Of Stolen Property – Oct.
27: A 55-year-old Graham woman found one of her personal checks in the
bedroom of her 23-year-old roommate. When the older woman asked the younger
woman about the checks, the young roommate admitted taking some of the
victim’s checks, but said that she had thrown them away. Although
suspicious, the victim accepted her roommate’s answer and didn’t report
the incident. Later, when the victim obtained copies of the checks she
realized that her roommate hadn’t told the truth and she contacted
sheriff’s deputies. There were four checks the roommate had written,
totaling $105.15, one in the amount of $4.12, paying for a coffee drink.
Upon the roommate’s arrival home, the victim once again contacted sheriffs
at the Mountain Detachment who drove to the victim’s home and found one
more check in the young woman’s wallet when searching her belongings. The
23-year-old was transported to Pierce County jail and booked in on charges
of check forgery and possession of stolen property.

unusual.
