Town Council approves bid for new sidewalks
The Eatonville Town Council approved a $150,940 bid submitted by Pape & Sons Construction to build new sidewalks in town. Director of Public Works Jamieson Van Eaton said the project will, "Start on Carter St. beginning at Rainier Ave. and from Rainier Ave. towards Washington Ave. That portion will be on the north side of Carter St. Also on Carter St., east of Washington Ave.,  down to the school on the south side of Carter. And on Washington Ave. from Carter St., on the east side of Washington Ave., to Lynch Creek Road. From there the sidewalk will go to the ball field." The work is to begin "soon" according to Van Eaton. New sidewalks will be added to some existing portions in the construction area. However, the majority of the project provides sidewalks where none existed. Pape & Sons Construction is from Gig Harbor.

"Pity the poor kids who grow up in a big city. They miss the little things that made growing up in a small town, ah, so wonderful."
