Cruisers
Remain Undefeated !!!
by Donny O'Brien
Playing North Mason, the only other undefeated team
in the Nisqually League, the Cruisers won their eighth straight match of the
season in overtime. The Bulldogs scored first in the match on a shot outside
the penalty box in the 11th minute. Eatonville out-shot the Bulldogs 28-5
and had two other goals called back on offsides. Eatonville created several
great opportunities but were unable to answer with a goal until the 73rd
minute.
Anna Benton scored the tying goal on a deflected
shot from Katelyn Goetze. In overtime North Mason did not get one shot on
the Cruiser goal. The Cruisers had 5 shots in the double overtime.
Goetze scored in the 1st minute in the second overtime period on a pass from
Jenny Baker.
The Cruisers continued their winning streak on
Thursday night at Port Townsend. Carah Carlman scored in the 5th and
19th minutes on bombs from outside the penalty area. Katelyn Goetze got her
first of two assists on Carlman's game deciding second goal. Cruiser
freshman Jenny Baker also nailed a pair in this match. Baker's first goal in
the 35th minute was off a pass from Megan Hecht. Baker's second point came
20 minutes later off a crossed ball from Geotze. Hecht finished the scoring
with 15 minutes to go in the match with a pass from Benton. This win puts
the Cruisers at, 8-0 in league and 9-0-1 for the season with five league
matches remaining in the season.

Overtime Win Puts Junior Cruisers at 4-2-1
Aaron Edwards third down four yard
run off tackle in overtime put an end to a hard fought battle with the
Tacoma Panthers.
With some personnel changes this week the Junior Cruisers set out to get win
number four of the season. " Our passing game was not where we wanted
it," said EPW coach Donny O'Brien. "We made the decision to move
JD Olson from quarterback to the #5 receiver and Steven Hass from the #5 to
the quarterback position. Steven is a fifth grader. He has a little better
accuracy and it just made sense to make the change for the rest of this
season and for next year as well. JD is a great athlete, he has great hands
and can run the ball as well. I really think that for the next two games and
the playoffs it's the right decision."
The Junior Cruisers scored on their second
possession of the game to take an early lead in this LLYA match up last
Saturday. Jeremy Leonard broke the plain of the goal from the three-yard
line. The Junior Cruisers had a bad pitch on the conversion play. The
Panthers answered the Cruisers score on their next possession and missed
their PAT as well.
The second half was scoreless. The Junior Cruiser
defense held the line when they had to and the offense showed signs that
they could break big plays with a little more time as a unit. At the end of
regulation it was a 6-6 tie.
Eatonville won the toss and elected to defend
first. On the second play from the ten the Junior Cruisers forced a fumble
in the Panther backfield and recovered to end Tacoma's first series.
Eatonville pumped the middle twice. Leonard moved the ball three yards on
the first down. Eric Rose picked up three more on the second down. On third
down Eatonville called a time out to set up the next play. On third down
Edwards would get the call from the four breaking off tackle for the
touchdown to end the game 12-6.
The Junior Cruisers will face the Al Davies Oilers Saturday, October 19th at
Lakes High School. Game time is 1:30PM.

Special Teams Play Moves Cruisers Past Bulldogs
by Donny O'Brien
Four missed extra points attempts were the
difference in last Friday night's game between the Eatonville Cruisers and
the North Mason Bulldogs. Specialty team play plagued the Bulldogs all night
as the Cruisers capitalized on little mistakes and made big plays.
Two missed PAT kicks and two missed two point conversions were the point
difference as the Bulldogs answered each Eatonville touchdown with a
touchdown.
A punt blocked by Eatonville's Jay Iverson on the
15-yard- line was recovered by Devin O'Rourke and taken in for the Cruisers'
third touchdown of the contest. O'Rourke scored the first, third and fourth
touchdown for the Cruisers as well as rushing for 124 yards in 27 carries.
David Hamilton scored the second Eatonville touchdown on a shot between the
hash marks from Kyle Mettler.
Hamilton caught the pass in the seam and simply out
ran Bulldog defenders on the play. Hamilton also made all four of his PAT
kicks to provide the winning margin for the Cruisers. Eatonville's defense
held down the usually potent Bulldogs passing attack. Steve Hooper, North
Masons big quarterback was 11-24 for 124 yards despite having his throwing
hand hurt in the first quarter. Joe Osborn, Jon Culliton, Russell
Reece, Iverson and O'Rourke did a fine job of putting pressure on Hooper
during both halves of play.
The 4-1 Cruisers travel to Foster High School, near
Sea-Tac airport, Friday night Oct. 18, to face the Foster Bulldogs. Game
time is 7 p.m.

Against Vashon she had 11 kills and 5 blocks." In the match with
Steilacoom Rink had 10 kills. And Serdahl added about Rink, "Is getting
stronger each game blocking." Serdahl also said, "Amanda Compher

9th, starting at 10AM in the EHS gym.
