Sheriff's Report Burglary – Aug. 7: Unknown suspects entered a home on 94th Avenue East in Graham using a door key “hidden” on the front porch while the resident was out running errands. Stolen were four Fender electric guitars, two Warmoth electric guitars and a car amplifier/booster used to hook up to the guitars. Vehicle Robbery – Aug. 7: A sheriff’s deputy responded to the area of 224th Street East and 46th Avenue East in Graham to assist the owner of a stolen vehicle who was following his car headed southbound on SR7. The owner called Mountain Detachment using his cell phone while following his 1990 Chevy Astro Van. The deputy, informed by dispatch of the vehicle’s location, was able to sit and wait for the van to drive by, and pulled out onto the road behind it. Using his lights, the officer stopped the van and asked the driver, a 34-year-old female, to get out of the vehicle. She was placed in handcuffs. Deputies then learned the “stolen” van ownership was in the midst of a marital dispute and was supposed to be part of a “trade” the husband had not followed through on. The woman was released and allowed to drive off in the van when sheriff’s deputies determined the van was “community property”. Assault (Nonaggravated) – Aug. 7:
A 15-year-old female was assaulted by a 15-year-old male when she went to
visit him at his parent’s home on Orting Kapowsin Hwy. East in Graham. The
girl said that she had been a friend of the suspect for a few years, but
when she got to his home he began calling her names. While in the driveway
the girl threw a rock at the boy, hitting him on the foot. The boy grabbed
her by the throat, throwing her down on the ground and acting as though he
were going to kick her. The boy’s mother ran out of the house and dragged
the boy off of the girl. Deputies were contacted and went to the home to
talk to the young man. The mother answered the door and allowed the deputies
in, stating that her son was in the bathroom, where deputies found only an
open window. Officers have not been able to contact the suspect and have
forwarded the case to Pierce County prosecutors for possible charging.
Destruction/Damage/Vandalism Of Property – Aug. 8: A 35-year-old woman from Eatonville was driving westbound on Eatonville Cut-Off Road when she noticed a puff of smoke on the north shoulder of the road, and her driver’s door window was shattered. Believing she was being shot at, the woman fled to Fire District 15 on SR7. Chief Spohn went to the scene and observed four young men, all aged 15, two from Eatonville, two from Puyallup emerging from the bushes. The boys admitted throwing firecrackers but didn’t realize they had damaged the vehicle. One box containing 15 firecrackers was confiscated. The parents of the boys have accepted responsibility and agreed to pay the victim for damages.
