Eatonville Police Report - August 2 - 24, 2002

 

August 2A 27-year-old Elbe man was arrested for DWLS. The suspect was observed at a local business acting suspiciously. Using an in-car computer the license plate was run and the driver identified. The computer also indicated the suspect’s driver’s license was suspended for unpaid child support. After waiting about 10 minutes for the suspect to come out of the business the officers departed the area. A short time later the suspect was observed westbound on Center Street. The suspect was stopped and arrested for DWLS. The suspect was cited and released. His vehicle was impounded.

August 3A 39-year-old Eatonville woman was arrested for DUI. The woman was observed at the Arts Fest highly intoxicated. When an officer asked her where she was going she told him she was going home. The officer told her that she was too drunk and for her not to drive. The woman then walked towards the parking lot. The officer called on duty officers and advised them who the suspect was and what kind of vehicle she drives. A short time later the suspect drove past two officers on the wrong side of the roadway. The suspect was stopped and when contacted by officers she smelled strongly of intoxicants. When asked if she had been drinking she replied, “Why yes,” as if proud of it. She agreed to take a field sobriety test and failed all the tests given. She was arrested for DUI and taken to the police department for a BAC. The results were .278 and .261. She was later cited and released to the custody of her adult son.

August 3A 27-year-old Sumner man was arrested after he assaulted his 23-year-old girlfriend. The suspect was booked into Pierce County (PC) Jail.

August 4Three adults were charged with possession of stolen property after witness’s observed them with a metal shelf that was stolen from a vendor at the Arts Fest.

August 4A 32-year-old Eatonville man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers were called to an apartment complex after tenants complained about the smell of burning marijuana and loud banging noises coming from an apartment. Officers contacted the suspect and advised him why they were there. When asked if he had any marijuana he said yes and gave officers a pot pipe. He also allowed officers to search his apartment for additional drugs. They found another pot pipe in his bedroom. The suspect was arrested, cited and released.

August 4A 28-year-old transient was arrested for two warrants for his arrest, one for Escape and another one for DWLS. The suspect was inside an apartment while officers were investigating a drug complaint. A records check of the suspect showed he had two warrants. He was transported and booked into PC Jail.

August 4 – A 27-year-old Tacoma woman was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine and for possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was stopped for driving a vehicle in an unsafe condition. A records check disclosed that her license was suspended. The suspect was arrested and her car searched incident to arrest. Inside a backpack items of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine were found. The suspect was transported and booked into PC jail. Her vehicle was impounded.

August 6A 47-year-old Roy woman was charged with assault after she reportedly stomped on an 8-year-old boy’s foot while leaving the District Court #3 Courtroom.

August 7A 20-year-old Elbe woman was arrested for DWLS and for possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was stopped for erratic driving. A records check disclosed that her driver’s license was suspended. When the suspect was told her vehicle was going to be searched and then impounded she told the officer that he would find a pot pipe behind the driver’s seat. The pot pipe was recovered and the suspect was later cited and released. Her car was impounded.

August 7An 18-year-old Eatonville woman reported that someone had entered her unsecured car and stolen the faceplate off her CD player and stolen about 20 CD’s.

August 7a 43-year-old Eatonville man was arrested for two Eatonville Municipal Court warrants for his arrest for DUI and for DWLS. Officer’s received information the suspect would be at a local address. When they arrived they found him hiding under the front porch with a dog. He was transported and booked into PC Jail.

August 8A 45-year-old Eatonville businessman reported that someone had stolen about 1000 feet of copper electrical cable. A well know area transient was observed in the area about the same time as the theft. Investigation continues.

August 10Two Eatonville brothers were arrested for MIP. A records check disclosed  the oldest brother had a warrant for MIP out of Remann Hall. The older brother was transported and booked into Remann Hall. The younger brother was cited and released to a family member.

August 12A 51-year-old Eatonville woman reported that someone had broken the glass cover to her front porch light.

August 12A10-speed bike was found abandoned in the 400 block of Center St E.

August 13A 34-year-old Eatonville man was arrested for DWLS. The suspect was stopped and an in-car computer check disclosed his license was suspended and he had a warrant for DUI his arrest. The suspect was transported and booked into PC Jail. His vehicle was impounded.

August 13An 18-year-old Eatonville woman was involved in a one-car traffic accident on Orville Road.

August 14Death Investigation.

August 18A 48-year-old Kingston Washington man was charged with threats after he called his estranged wife and threatened her. The threats started over the fact that the wife cut the lock on a shared storage unit to retrieve her cloths and personal belongings. This made the suspect mad. The case has been forwarded to the prosecutor for review and possible criminal charging.

August 18An 18-year-old Eatonville man was arrested for armed robbery and car jacking. A Pierce County Detective delivered wanted posters of the suspect to the department and requested we be on the look-out for him. An officer while on patrol in the 100 block of Alder Street saw the suspect sitting on the porch of a duplex. The suspect matched the description in the wanted poster. The suspect gave a false name but the officers weren’t buying his story. A detective arrived and after questioning the suspect he admitted he was a wanted man. He was taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies and booked into PC Jail.

August 18A 44-year-old Eatonville man was arrested on three warrants for his arrest. The suspect was stopped for a seatbelt violation. A records check using an in-car computer disclosed that the suspect had three warrants out of District Court #1 for DUI, DWLS 2 and one for DWLS 3. The suspect was arrested transported and booked into PC Jail.

August 19A 36-year-old and a 42-year-old Eatonville woman were arrested for possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and for possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspects were stopped for having missing license plates on their vehicle and for an equipment violation. An in-car computer check of the driver, the 36-year-old, disclosed she had a felony warrant for her arrest for unlawful possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia and for DWLS 3. The suspect was arrested on the warrants and for driving while her license was suspended. A search of the car disclosed a larger quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The passenger in the car was also the registered owner car, she too was arrested on felony drug charges. The suspect’s vehicle was impounded and both women were transported and booked into PC Jail.

August 21Someone cut the locks on 14 storage units at the Ohop Valley Storage Units. Owners have been contacted and are in the process of inventorying the units.

August 21A 41-year-old Eatonville woman contacted police and reported a bike had been left at her residence and she wanted it removed. The bike was taken as found property. It was later learned the bike was stolen by a 23-year-old man that is well known to law enforcement officers. Sheriff’s deputies contacted the owner of the bike and it was later released back to the owner.

August 21A 42-year-old Eatonville woman reported someone had punched the lock on the driver door to her car while it was parked at a local repair shop.

August 22A 39-year-old Eatonville woman reported her 41-year-old estranged husband had been missing since August 11th.

August 22A 22-year-old Eatonville woman reported someone had entered her boyfriend’s jeep and stolen a sub woofer and the faceplate off the CD player.

August 22A 43-year-old Eatonville woman reported someone had stolen her son’s car while it was parked in the 100 block of Mashell Ave S. An Eatonville officer later found the vehicle parked in Smallwood Park. The door locks were punched, as was the ignition. The owner was contacted and the vehicle was released back to her.

August 23A 32-year-old Eatonville man reported someone had removed the screen and attempted to open the window to his infant daughter’s bedroom. The man reported he and his wife heard the window being moved over their baby monitor in her room. He ran to the room and noticed someone had moved the window the wrong direction closing and latching it. He said he went outside but did not see anyone.

  August 23A 55-year-old Eatonville man reported that an 18-year-old Spanaway man who is his granddaughter’s boyfriend has been cashing stolen checks at the Plaza Market. The victim said he is missing a full book of checks and so far 16 checks have been returned. The total theft so far has been about $2,000. The victim produced copies of all the checks and his signature has been forged. Store personnel have positively identified the suspect. The suspect was arrested early this morning by PC sheriff’s deputies on an unrelated offense and is currently in PC Jail. The suspect is well known by local police. He will be interviewed at the jail at a later date.

August 24A 22-year-old Graham was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, attempted kidnapping, vehicle assault and DWLS 3. The suspect left a local bar and took his boss’s van without her permission. The suspect made a few comments to a 19-year-old woman who took offense to the remarks. According to witnesses the suspect grabbed the woman and tried to pull her into the van. The woman pulled away and as she was walking across the street to get away from him the suspect backed up and pulling forward into the opposite lane of travel hit the woman knocking her into the parking lot of the Ford Dealership. The woman got up and went to a friend’s house until police arrived. The suspect fled the area at a high rate of speed. Sheriff’s deputies later arrested the suspect after he wrecked the truck at Barney’s Corner. The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for bruises and scrapes. She was later released. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where a mandatory blood draw was taken. While at the hospital the victim positively identified the suspect. The suspect was later transported and booked into PC Jail.
