Happy Halloween!
Photos and Story by Bob Walter...

Adorable? - Not!

These two scary looking individuals, and many other mysterious characters, were spotted walking the streets of Eatonville Saturday, October 29. Dawn Newkirk, owner of Dawn's Floral and Gifts, spearheaded the effort by downtown businesses to offer treats for kids during the afternoon, and before the arrival of Halloween. These two slipped away so quickly we were unable to ascertain their identities.
ENN's informal survey of Eatonville businesses indicated the first annual event was a happy and safe one. A lot of kids turned out for it, and they and the businesses are eager to do it again next year. ENN doesn't have a scientific candy meter, however, it is estimated that over one-hundred-thirty pounds of the sweet stuff  found its way into sacks, pails and pumpkins.

Twin Power Rangers - But Not Identical...

     A. J. and T. J. Goetz, non-identical twins, visited the Tall Timbers restaurant for a candy treat during the daylight Trick-or-Treat event put on by downtown businesses on Saturday afternoon. When asked by Eileen Staffanson (behind counter) what do they say, the two boys, perhaps feeling it was still too early for Halloween,  replied simply, "Please."

Twins Unmasked...

Power Rangers A. J. and T. J. reveal their true identities before leaving the Tall Timbers to continue their good works.

Adorable? Yes!
Alexis is Almost a Rabbit...

From atop the lunch counter at the Tall Timbers, 15-month-old Alexis Potter gazes in wonder at the parade of kids going by in colorful costumes. Her mother, Jennifer, watches her admiringly.

Adorable? Yes! Whitney is almost a Witch...

At Dawn's Floral and Gifts, Whitney Wienholz, disguised as a witch, digs eagerly into the bowl of treats offered by Chelsea Newkirk, a junior at Eatonville High, during the special daylight Trick or Treat event. Chelsea, perhaps channeling a character from "Beetlejuice," portrayed a "dead" dirt biker.

Whitney Gets a Handful...

Whitney makes off with an extra fistful, as Chelsea turns to look at the camera.

Hogwarts Magic?

Joanne Weidig, Whitney Wienholz and Chelsea Newkirk pose for the camera. But wait, is Joanne now wearing the cape previously worn by Whitney? How did they make the switch? Did they do it at Hogwarts?

Not Easy Being Green...

Little Dezanae Canly, perhaps bewildered by the Trick-or-Treaters of every description passing by her, stopped and struck a wistful pose, peering into the camera lens outside the Tall Timbers Restaurant.

Not the Grim Reaper...

"I am not the Grim Reaper," said Gavan Linton, "I'm supposed to be the Phantom and have bloodshot eyes."

The Fearless Lion...

Adam Wahl, 4, is one very classy, very friendly, lion.

Angelic Canine...

Hades, an eight-month-old American pitbull terrier, came dressed as an angel. Hades wore his costume without any complaints.
