Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Petunia lost her head in all the Halloween excitement. She wants you to have a safe and sane Halloween this year. Remember, Petunia is watching you so you better be good. No scary, dangerous pranks or she will get you. Yep, she can move without the rest of her body. Petunia was designed, painted and photographed by Edwinna Van Eaton who has a way with pumpkin heads.

October 28, 2006: Cheyenne Splan, the carhop, is one of several volunteer treaters helping local businesses during the community trick-or-treat Saturday. She offered a tray of treats to young children and all the others visiting Mountain Take-Out.
Cheyenne can also belt out a song with the best of them, she was part of the entertainment during the 2007 Daffodil Princess selection.

Meet the Town Witch...

Folks doing business at the Eatonville Town Hall Halloween were greeted by witchy Christina Dargan, utility clerk. Don't let the costume fool you. Christina is a "good witch" who is always willing to help with a smile and friendly words.

...And the Town Devil...

Judy Justice, owner of Judy's Tan & Tips in Eatonville, also greeted her patrons in full Red Devil costume. Devilish Judy even visited other businesses dressed in her very cute costume. You can tell my her big smile just how friendly she is under the red face. And no, she didn't get burned in a tanning bed.

A Clever Halloween Tip...

October 31, 2006: Two young men, early teens or close too it, were enjoying their food at The Pizza Place Halloween evening. The kids were very hungry, trick or treating is hard work, and they ate with gusto. See the clean plates? Well, almost clean plates. One of the boys, with the half-finished soft drink, did take a slice of what may have been pizza with him.
The boys were very neat, see the photo, but not rich. So they left  Halloween candy to tip, the always popular and fun-loving, Jeff, who serves customers at the speed of light. Several small candy bars were Jeff's tip and he got a big kick out of it. The moral is: If someone takes good care of you, and treats you with respect, they get a tip. It might be candy or a gold nugget.
John and Tammi's Pizza Place is supposed to open as "Jebino's" on Mashell Avenue in two weeks. Already most of the Rat Pack albums, photos, etc. are gone from the little building painted as the Italian flag. Nails and double-sided tape mark the walls where Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop once peered down on patrons. Gone also is the high school photo of Louie Miller Jr., the only local man  allowed to be a member of the "Rat Pack." (Don't look him up in the history books, he's the invisible Rat Packer).

   Halloween Fun
Photos and Story by Bob Walter...

Cheyenne Splan, the carhop, is one of several volunteer treaters helping local businesses during the community trick-or-treat Saturday. She offered a tray of treats to young children and all the others visiting Mountain Take-Out.
The Halloween afternoon event was organized by Dawn Newkirk, of Dawn's Floral and Gifts, to provide an opportunity for merchants and kids to celebrate the Halloween Trick-or-Treat tradition during daylight hours. Her business also conducted a sidewalk sale and a car wash Saturday, to raise funds for the 2007 Senior Surprise.

A Dainty Fairy with her Escort...

Chelsea McAminch takes a break from trick-or-treating to pose for the camera in her costume. To her left is Larry McLaughlin, who enjoyed the Saturday walk with Chelsea.

A Cruiser Plays a Cruiser...

Yet another youth volunteer giving out treats was David Jones, who came dressed as a football player. Wait a minute; he is a football player. So it's not a costume after all! David worked the crowds in front of NAPA Auto Parts.

Cruiser Man's Identity Remains a Mystery...

Cindy Simianer and "Cruiser Man" join the hordes of costumed kids trick-or-treating the downtown Eatonville merchants on Saturday, October 28.

The Gang's All Here, Including Hades...

From left to right, Rebecca, Gavan, Drew, Damien, Ryan, his dog, Hades, and Kaitlin, all decked out in their Halloween costumes, head up Center Street from Washington Avenue to hit several more businesses participating in the community trick-or-treat.

And Next, Christmas is Coming...

These trick or treaters stopped at Dawn's Floral and Gifts for goodies and found people unwrapping Christmas decorations.

October 28, 2006: Photographer Bob Walter managed to snap this photo of a ghost dashing past the entrance to South Pierce County Fire and Rescue 15's annual Haunted House Saturday evening. The Haunted House is full of icky, scary stuff and continues Sunday, October 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. Bring the kids and be prepared to be afraid, be very afraid!

Severed Head Served on a Silver Platter...

Beware what lurks around the next corner at the Fire District 15 Haunted House, at 340th and the Mountain Highway. Here, the ghoulish-looking head of a pretty young lass lies on a platter, the mice getting ready to feast, as she screams. An eerie mist engulfs the entire house. The frights continue this evening at the firehall. Cookies and drinks provided.

Pretty Pumpkin...

This pumpkin was just one Halloween decoration during South Pierce County Fire and Rescue 15's very popular and scary Haunted House October 28 and 29.

Enjoy Japanese Melon Carving...

This amazing artwork has been on ENN for a long time, but has been sort of buried. However, on occasion new art is added.  For those of you who haven't seen this art, please give yourself a visual treat by visiting Japanese Watermelon Carvings Japanese Watermelon Art/Sculpture.
We carve pumpkins in funny or scary images. This isn't true with melon carving. Thanks to Don Cook for sharing this great site with ENN readers. Music accompanies the photos. Enjoy a few moments of beauty this Halloween amidst the skeletons, bloody limbs, demons, etc.
