King Blair Haifley and Queen Michelle Douglas acknowledge the cheering crowd during the halftime coronation ceremony at Eatonville High School's Homecoming Game Friday night. The royal court had just enough time for pictures before being hurriedly waved off the platform to let the second half of the game commence.

Two of the above Eatonville High School seniors will be crowned Homecoming King and Queen Friday,  October 1, during half-time at the Homecoming football game in Eatonville. The Cruisers are playing North Mason. EHS holds a coronation assembly before the kids vote for king and queen. The gym was beautifully decorated with the Homecoming Dance theme of Mardi Gras. There was a lighted, purple path and a festive archway for the court to pass through on their way to the stage. Lots of color, masks and glitter gave the huge room a cheerful look. The Homecoming Assembly was coordinated by  high school teacher Tira Hancock and volunteer parent Julie Salvey. The dance will be held Saturday, October 2.

Dummy Hunt and
Bonfire Friday...

This handsome dude rests in a display case at Eatonville High School. He will lounge there taunting all who pass until sometime Thursday. That day he will be spirited away by teachers from Weyerhaeuser Elementary. The teachers will hide him and leave numerous clues for the Dummy Hunt, which seniors vow to win every year.
He was crafted by Julie Salvey who said she spent about eight hours putting him together.
Julie explained that it took about "four and a half feet of newspapers" to stuff him. The Dummy Hunt will begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday following the Serpentine Dance through the town starting at 1:30 p.m. After the Dummy has been found he will be burned in a giant bonfire next to the football stadium before the Homecoming game.
The dummy was found by EHS juniors, the same kids who found it last year as sophomores!

Crowns are Waiting for Homecoming Royalty...
